A root canal is the chamber through which a tooth is supplied with nerves and nutrients. Each tooth has its own root canal. A tooth will decay downwards, and if left untreated, this decay will begin to affect the pulp chamber of the tooth and lead to an aggressive pain in that area of the mouth. Sometimes, in order to salvage part of the tooth, it’s necessary to remove a tooth’s nerve entirely and fill the canal with a root canal filling in its place.

Retreatments

Even small amounts of bacteria remaining behind after a root canal can cause a repeated infection. If this occurs, an endodontist (root canal specialist) will be called in to treat the issue. The endodontist will completely remove the filling in the root canal and clean the chamber thoroughly then refill it in hopes of improved results.molar
